Simon’s practice is exclusively criminal defence. He specialises in all areas of criminal law. He has acted in a broad range of cases ranging from attempted murder, serious robbery to offences involving the use of firearms and serious sexual offences. He has been described as: ‘meticulous in his preparation, diligent and a strong trial advocate’. Some of the cases Simon has defended to date include:

R v Scott and Others
Case involving large scale violent disorder and murder.

Case involving the historical sexual abuse of children.

Case involving the historical sexual abuse of children.

R v Street
Defendant previously made the subject of hospital order in respect of 4 counts of manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility. Several years after release he was charged with making explosive substances and several counts of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

R v Smith and Others
Represented Defendant who was charged with conspiracy to defraud the DWP

R v Connors and Others
Case involving the fraudulent evasion of over 1 million pounds in duty on the production of hand rolling tobacco.

R v Parkes and Others
Represented the Defendant who along with others was charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs in Birmingham. The police conducted undercover surveillance in North Birmingham over 12 months period. The case involved cell site analysis, test purchases and ANPR evidence.

R v Ilyas and Others
Represented the Defendant, who along with others, was charged with conspiracy to murder; the prosecution alleged that the gang travelled from London to Preston and discharged a firearm at the complainant who had failed to repay a debt.

Represented the Defendant who was charged with importing a large quantity of drugs into the UK.

Represented Defendant who was charged with offences relating to the historic sexual abuse of children.

R v Reid and Others
Represented Defendant who was charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. It was alleged that the Defendant had amassed a million pounds fortune from dealing in drugs.
