Practice Profile:
Mr Charnjit Singh Jutla is a highly experienced barrister with over 20 years’ involvement in serious, complex and high-profile criminal cases. He began his legal career with the Crown Prosecution Service, where he developed a strong foundation in the principles and practice of criminal prosecution.
Called to the Bar in 2003, Mr Jutla commenced pupillage at Equity Chambers in 2005 and subsequently secured tenancy. His practice is now primarily focused on criminal defence, where he is instructed at advisory, trial and appellate levels.
Mr Jutla’s work spans the full spectrum of criminal law, including heavyweight cases of homicide (murder and manslaughter), drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, human trafficking and terrorism. Having initially built experience on both the prosecution and defence sides, he has developed a formidable and well-rounded defence practice. Many of his cases attract substantial media attention and public interest.
Throughout his career, Mr Jutla has worked alongside a number of leading practitioners in the jurisdiction, establishing strong and respected professional relationships.
Mr Jutla is a Member of the VHCC (Very High Costs Case) Scheme.
